This page explains how the guides on this site are made and how we earn, so you can judge whether to trust them.
Every claim carries a source
Each guide lists its sources at the bottom, with the date we last read each one. If a fact has no source, it does not go in.
We cite the thing we actually read. If an institution's own page would not load, we do not quote its rate from an aggregator or a news report instead. Several guides say plainly how many pages we tried and how many worked.
Dates matter more than numbers
Interest rates and commission caps change, often without announcement. A rate without a date is worse than no rate, because it looks like information.
So every figure we publish names the institution it came from and the date we checked it. When you read a table here, read the date first. If the date is old, confirm with the institution before acting.
We say when we do not know
Most guides end with a section headed "what we could not establish". That is deliberate. There are real gaps in what is publicly known about pigmy collection in India:
- No national survey measures how much collection is still on paper rather than on a device or an app. Every percentage in circulation traces to a vendor.
- No published count exists of pigmy agents nationally, outside one state figure.
- 6 of the 18 institutions in our directory state how they calculate interest on these schemes.
Where sources disagree, we say they disagree and show both. We would rather leave a question open than close it with a guess.
How Pigmity is funded
Everything on this site is free to read. Pigmity does not currently sell any product or service, and no institution pays for inclusion, position or wording.
If Pigmity ever offers a paid service, it will be reviewed for its legal and regulatory implications first, and these commitments apply:
- We do not take payment for placement or for a favourable mention. Nobody can buy a position in a table, a directory entry, or a kind sentence.
- Where we have a commercial relationship with anyone we write about, the page says so, in plain words, near the thing it affects. Not in a footer.
- The research does not change to suit the commercial side. If the honest answer is that a product is not worth it, or that the free option is better, that is what the page says. Several already do.
We are not a bank, a co-operative society, a Nidhi company, or a deposit-taking institution, and we never hold your money.
Rankings and comparisons
We publish no "best of" list, because doing that credibly requires criteria published in advance and applied consistently. If we ever publish one, the criteria go up first and the scoring is shown.
Where we compare named products or institutions, we compare on published facts with dates attached, and we say who is publishing the comparison.
Nothing here is financial advice
We describe products, rules and costs. We do not know your circumstances and we do not recommend what you should do with your money. Where a guide reaches a conclusion, it is about the product, not about you.
Our calculator is an estimate
The maturity calculator states its assumptions on the page, in full, next to the result. Indian institutions do not share a single method for computing interest on daily deposits, and most do not publish theirs, so the figure is an estimate and not a quotation. The model behind it, and the arithmetic we verified it against, are documented rather than hidden.
Corrections
We would rather be corrected than be wrong quietly.
Every institution profile has a form for reporting an error, and our corrections page explains what happens to a report. For any other page, write to hello@pigmity.com with the page and what is wrong. If you are an institution and we have misstated your product, tell us and we will check it against your published page and fix it.
When we correct something material, we change the page and say what changed. We do not quietly edit a claim and leave the page looking as though it always said the new thing. Two corrections already sit in our research notes, marked as corrections, for exactly that reason.
Who writes this
Guides are currently published under the Pigmity name rather than an individual byline, and our methodology sets out how facts are gathered and checked. When a named author with direct experience of co-operative banking joins the site, guides will carry that byline and this page will name them.
